Burn2 – are the good times over?

Closing in on my 4th year in SL®, one of the few certainties it offered me seems like’s it’s struggling to keep the spark alive. Burn2 (the renamed Burning Life) not only got reduced in size dramatically, but sadly also seemed (to me) as the least interesting edition compared to the others I’ve attended.

I don’t mean to say it’s uninteresting overall, but the flame most certainly has been tempered. Apart from 1 of the mere 6 sims being totally devoted to the “entrance road” (or whatever you’d like to call it), there’s still a large number of empty plots to be encountered. With a size reducing this intense that was the last thing I expected! It sure made me wonder if Burn2 will still be a certainty for a good time in the future editions…

Then again, all is not lost as the creations that were present were up to their usual qualitative, creative and imaginative level. Below are my favourite 5 installations.

No stranger to creative events like this, Bryn Oh always delivers with her imaginative setups and excellently crafted sculptures.

Stilt Bitches Flying Carnival

I gigantic flying circus comes to town, with free gifts, and some spectacular shows.
A jaw dropping visual treat in several ways!

Concrete Soldiers

A well thought-out display for a poem that makes you wonder if there are alternatives for an aspect of our lives we usually don’t pause to think about.

Berlin Stage Phoenix

A large amount of stages were present again, most of all I liked this enormous Phoenix sculpture at the Berlin Stage!

Steel and glass don’t have to be cold. To me all these colors were simply eye candy!

As always there’s some gifts to collect, which are outfits and a flying carpet from the Flying Carnival, some 8-bit hats at POP ATOMIC, sugar skulls and a cheeky undead rat pet at the Baba Yaga plot, a wearable floating blue butterfly and body paint at Concrete Soldiers, full expedition outfits and mechanical skins at the Eridu Society plot and quite a bit more, but personally, the coolest one I came back with is this miniature flying glider!
