Casa CheerNo remains one of my focuses these days. Thanks to a Plurk thread from Aristoteles Allen (a Casa CheerNo manager and host for this particular event) I was invited to the presentation of their new Winter 09/10 collection: Deuil.
I was curious to see how CheerNo Destiny would blend “something dark” (which was a hint given about this new line) with his personal more flamboyant style. Here’s a short word of what you can feast your wallets on as from the 13th of November 2009.
Think of items you have worn during the (late) 80s and (early) 90s, be it to have crazy fun at the clubs disco or attend a more classy occasion. Once you have that in mind: style it up to the present, grayscale it with slate, gun-metal and aged silver tones and finally spruce it up with the personal twists you’ve seen in previous lines of Casa CheerNo. THat’s how I would describe it in a nutshell, but the pics below surely will do a better job than words.
One of my personal points of interest of this presentation were the jewels. Roughly 80% of the jewels for men available on the grid doesn’t make my heart beat faster (sorry!). So I was pleased to see some creative and delicately crafted male jewels adorning the runway models. There was 1 particular piece that I can’t wait to try and see how it looks on myself!
But the clothes of course were the stars of the night, and there certainly was an echo towards the 80s and (early) 90s. Truth be told: I hardly know anything about this period. I was born in 1985 and one of the only things I remember of the 80s is the moment I had to give my pacifier away to the Easter Bunny… not one of my better moments according to my parents.
But enough side tracking. I do know that a revival of the trends from that era has been going on for a while, but this is the first time I’ve seen it “taken a Dark path”, and this collection seems to boldly strut down that path.
I won’t go too much into details (because you should all go check it out in the store as from the 13th), but here’s a quick listing of some items that I thought stood out:
* harem pants (want!)
* some padded combat jackets (there’s at least one I’m gonna buy)
* bindings (great to finish off a combative look)
* tees where 80s and 90s Rock meets Pop-Art (M. Manson & Monroe!)
* a woolen “formal jumpsuit” (I bet this shows off your figure in ways nothing else would!)
There also was an outfit that I think was inspired by something David Bowie wore in Labyrinth… but I didn’t manage to get a picture of that.
One thing I can only cheer to is that CheerNo sure pays attention to details in a total picture.
There were several skin types with a charcoal tint (like the velvet charcoal fur the cats in the Sheba commercials have), and a selection of hairstyles (although I don’t know how many to be exact) in grayscale tones, which altogether finished off the looks.
… poor poor wallet, I think it will be having a rough time this weekend.
**please note that these pictures aren’t in a very high resolution because I used the screen capture tool from my iMac, to not risk crashing by taking actual SL® snapshots**

That was a really interesting show! Even i would be critic with some pieces i liked the show itself and the concept.
