Strolling around the Kunstvlaai Festival 2008

Ah, arts…

If there’s anything that keeps amazing me in Second Life ® it’s the creativity it offers to every resident.
There’s very few limitations to keep in mind when you want to execute whatever your imagination can give you, so art shows are a visual treat in SL®.

The few artists I know who create artistic installations, are (deservingly) once more the topic of my typing.

Arahan Claveau, Nebulosus Severine and Ichibot Nichi have gone out of their already big place (Arthole) and have a couple things showing at the Kunstvlaai Festival situated in Virtual Holland.

When you arrive, turn around untill you spot the Red Room, floating above the water.
It’s easy to access and all you have to do is sit back and relax while watching Arahans walktrough video of the “Salon du Disruptif” exhibition (which took place at the Heldscalla Foundation in 2007).
Make sure you read the instructions notecard you get when entering the Red Room for perfect viewing conditions.

All other works are placed around this Red Room, just follow the pink dotted path ;o).

It’s not my job to explain what you can expect from them (it’s your job to go and find that out for yourselves) but I’ll tell you Nebulosus once again gives us the chance to enter or be part of several of her artistic installations.
There’s one I wouldn’t mind having, but I’m sure it wont fit behind my house. It’s something we could all use every once in a while, so just have a seat on the rotating prim (turn off your AO).

Here’s something to make you wondering: how can you overlook something that is really really big?
I’m not sure if Ichibot intended to raise that question, but one of his sculptures only can be seen if you look upwards. It’s really big and so nice to watch for a while as the sun settings change.

There are of course more installations to be seen of these artists, but go check them out for yourselves rather then reading about them ;o)

  1. Gany! I really appreciate you took the time to look at our art in Virtual Holland. The commitment became much more than we anticipated, in addition came the offer of working in Amsterdam and I had two days to create the installation there. Unfortunately, this meant I didn’t have time to do much over in Holland but luckily Ichibot stepped up and together with Neb filled the sim with some amazing work.

*I think that Maneki Neko might be all perms so I’ll send you one later :)

  2. Oh wow, Gany — thank you for writing about us! The photos you took are amazing, too! :D

  3. thank you for creating the show, and I did my best with the pictures ;)

  4. This installations by Arahan, Ichibot and Nebulosus are totally great, they invite you to participate, not only in an interactive way, also to participate on the meaning of them.

I should do a report about Nebulosus’s work at The NPIRL Garden of Delights, it really worths a visit too.

  5. Billionth says : I absolutely agree with this !

  6. Wowww HOW did you take such amazing pics? I tried to take some see http://www.flickr.com/planetart subset Kunstvlaai
    But yours are SUPER!!

  7. All pictures are “slightly PhotoShopped” to enhance their appearance.
I really do mean “slightly”, cuz I always try to keep the original appearance of the artistic works I snapshot. It’s often just to “enrich the colors” a bit, cuz most of the time the colors in SL snapshots are… well not very intense, and that’s what I try to change :)

  8. Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation :) Anyway … nice blog to visit.

    cheers, Asperity!
